Sclerotherapy

Effective Treatment for Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy is a highly effective treatment for spider veins, improving both their appearance and symptoms.

A sclerosant solution is injected into the vein using a very fine needle, causing the vein to collapse and fade over 4–6 weeks.

The procedure takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the number of veins treated, and multiple sessions may be required for optimal results.

– Quick, in-office procedure

– No downtime—resume most activities immediately

– Compression stockings recommended for 5–7 days

– Avoid sun exposure, hot tubs, and swimming for 3 weeks

Types of Sclerotherapy

Traditional Sclerotherapy – This treatment has been used for over 100 years and has evolved with new, more effective solutions that cause less discomfort than older saline-based treatments.

Foam Sclerotherapy – Ideal for larger veins, this method creates a foam solution that better adheres to the vein walls, allowing for faster closure.

Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy – Used for deep or hidden veins, this technique utilizes real-time ultrasound imaging to precisely target affected veins.

Venefit™

Minimally Invasive Varicose Vein Treatment

The Venefit™ procedure (formerly VNUS Closure™) uses radiofrequency ablation (RFA) to close diseased veins, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins.

This minimally invasive treatment is clinically proven to be more effective and less painful than traditional vein stripping or laser therapy.

– 15-minute in-office procedure

– Less pain & bruising than traditional treatments

– Return to normal activities within a day

– Two options: ClosureFAST™ Catheter or ClosureRFS™ Stylet

At The Vein Guys™, we maintain the highest standards of care and never use reprocessed catheters, ensuring the safest and most effective treatment for our patients.

VenaSeal™

The Most Advanced Non-Thermal Vein Closure

VenaSeal™ is the only non-thermal, non-tumescent, non-sclerosant vein closure system approved in the U.S.

It uses a medical adhesive to seal diseased veins—without multiple needle sticks or anesthesia.

This advanced technique results in minimal bruising and a faster recovery.

– No need for tumescent anesthesia
– Minimal-to-no bruising
– Immediate return to normal activities

During the procedure, a Vein Guys™ physician inserts a catheter into the vein using ultrasound guidance and applies a medical adhesive in precise locations along the vein. Compression is applied to ensure proper closure.

Note: VenaSeal™ is a self-pay procedure and may not be covered by insurance.

What are the symptoms of vein disease?

Common symptoms include leg swelling, heaviness, aching, cramping, itching, or visible varicose and spider veins. These symptoms often worsen after long periods of standing or sitting and may indicate chronic venous insufficiency.

Are varicose veins dangerous or just cosmetic?

Varicose veins can be more than cosmetic. They may be a sign of underlying vein disease, such as venous reflux. A physician evaluation with ultrasound can determine if treatment is recommended.

What causes spider veins on the legs?

Spider veins can develop due to genetics, prolonged standing or sitting, hormonal changes, or increased pressure in the veins. They are often superficial but can be associated with deeper vein issues.

How long is recovery after vein treatment?

Recovery is typically quick. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or shortly after, with minimal downtime. Many of our patients even drive home after their procedure! Your physician will provide personalized aftercare guidance.

Can vein problems come back after treatment?

Treated veins do not return, but new vein issues can develop over time. Regular follow-up and early evaluation of new symptoms can help maintain long-term vein health.
