Dr. Michael Lafuente is a vein specialist at The Vein Guys and a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 20 years of experience in emergency medicine, hospital care, and advanced medical procedures. He now brings his clinical expertise and commitment to patient-focused care to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of venous insufficiency and lower extremity vein disease.
Education & Training
Dr. Lafuente earned his medical degree and completed his post-graduate training in a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
He has lived and worked in Lake Charles for more than 7 years, serving in key clinical roles throughout the region. His background includes years as an Emergency Medicine Physician at Women & Children’s Hospital (Lake Charles), St. Francis North Hospital (Monroe), and West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (Sulphur), where he developed exceptional procedural skills and diagnostic acumen under pressure.
Dr. Lafuente also served as a Hospitalist at St. Patrick’s Hospital, where he was appointed Hospitalist Program Director (2009–2011) and Chairman of the Internal Medicine Department (2011–2012).
